NC Regulations to Reduce Patient Copays
Wednesday, February 15, 2012
Are you tired of being charged higher specialist co-pays for physical therapy?
If so, please help Focus Physical Therapy make a difference. An effort is currently underway in North Carolina to convince the NC legislature to pass regulations reducing co-pays and co-insurance burdens on patients. To accomplish this, the legislature would require that therapy visits be considered under the primary care co-pay and co-insurance benefit, rather than the specialist rate. We are encouraging all patients to visit the following site and voice your opinion by choosing to virtually “sign” the petition at:

To all our patients that reside in South Carolina, you may be wondering how this can help you? By making a change in North Carolina this can help pave the way for other states and, more importantly, if your health policy is a NC plan your co-pays would be reduced with the passing of this legislation.
Every day patients go without the care they need in order to reduce pain, increase strength, improve mobility, and regain their life back because they cannot afford their Physical Therapy Co-pay/Co-insurance. Many times patients have a $40, $50, or even $70 Co-pay with a commercial insurance plan. That is on top of paying their monthly premiums. If the Physical Therapist is paid $55 for the session and the patient paid $50 or more this is no longer a Co-pay and is now a "paid in full" service
Something needs to change and we need to make it so that Physical Therapy services can be accessed at the primary care provider Co-Pay/Co-Insurance rate.
Please sign this petition to let the State of North Carolina know that you are concerned and that legislation needs to be passed to allow patients the right to access the care they so desperately need.
